Waiheke Island Historical Society
P O Box 206, Ostend, Waiheke Island 1843, New Zealand
The Waiheke Museum and Historic Village is located at 165 Onetangi Straight on Waiheke Island; telephone (09) 372-2970.
The Museum is open from 12:00 noon until 4:00 PM every Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday throughout the year, as well as public-holiday Mondays. Other opening times can be arranged for school visits and other special groups.
By car: Follow the main road from Ostend toward Onetangi. We are on the right, across the road from the Saratoga vineyards. If you reach the entrance to the Waiheke Golf Club, you’ve gone too far. There is a sign that says “Museum 500 metres” which is actually only 250 metres before you arrive. The Museum carpark is at the far (eastern) end of the Museum grounds.
By bus: Take the number 1 bus (direction Onetangi) from the Matiatia ferry terminal. There is a bus stop immediately outside the Museum. The trip takes 20 to 30 minutes, depending on traffic.
Hope to see you soon!
