Minutes of WCS Committee meeting held 2:30pm Saturday 15th March 2025 at Adrienne’s home.

Present: Adrianne (new president), Anne, Joan, Sandra, Gavin, Willi, Mark Yandall (co-opted into the committee for his IT and advertising skills).

Apologies: Mark James.

Minutes of last committee meeting and AGM: not discussed specifically.

Mid-year Concert:                    -              Friday 8th August at Rocky Bay,

-                  Sunday 10th August at St Peters.

Adrienne will be away 19th Apr - 3rd May, 26th May - 20th Jun, and 1st Aug - 20th Aug, so will unfortunately miss the concert.   Mark Yandall will also be away.

Committee meeting required well before the concert to arrange advertising, etc:  date set for Friday 23rd May at 4pm at Adrienne’s home.

Christmas Concert:  Date requires changing from 14th Dec to avoid clash with Council’s Christmas gala at Artworks to either 7th Dec (preferred) or 30th Nov.   Adrienne to check with Christene Slone of St Peters re availability of St Peters on those dates.

After last year’s concert St Peter’s had complained to Sylvia about a couple of things - not quite sure what complaint was about, possibly seats, hot water cylinder? – Adrienne to find out exactly what was wrong.

Anne asked for and discussed ideas for the concert so that she can start researching music for it.  After discussing various options like including songs by David Hammond, agreed to follow last year’s concert theme with carols from around the world, including NZ.   Mark will ask his sisters for Christmas song ideas, as will Joan her Samoan friends.

Concert Posters:  Agreed ‘fancy’ posters are not required, to standardise to a more plain style with black letters.  Mid-year concert to be called simply “WCS Mid-year Concert”.   Anne passed on to Joan an example prototype she drew up, Joan to tidy up.

General Business:

Membership fees:   Agreed asking members who can afford more to donate more as previously suggested at other times is not required.  Adrianne to send Mark James email asking him to send out notice announcing fees due, payment options and due-by date, and to follow up later with reminder notice to those who haven’t paid by due date.

WCS Web-site:  Mark Yandall highlighted that photos on the website need updating to include new members.   He will liaise with Mark James.  Mark Yandall also said he would be willing to take over oversite of the website if Mark James is wanting to pass responsibility for it to someone else.

Tea-break during practices:  Willi offered to bring milk each week for the tea break.  Tin with cash for biscuits is getting low ($15) – reminder notice to be given asking people to bring a gold coin if they are wanting to have tea/biscuits during the break.

WCS Signatories:  Adrienne to check with Mark James re change of president signatory at ASB bank from Sylvia.   Gavin is the current co-authoriser of any payments set up by Mark.

Voice Coaching:  Discussed would be good if we could get some voice coaching for the choir.   Members to keep on eye out for any singing teachers on the island.

Section Leaders:   Mark mentioned he has been in the choir 2 ½ years now but still does not know every other member by name.  Others said the same.   Agreed to nominate leaders of each section to help introduce new members/get contact details and pass on to Dee.   Sandra = Sapranos/Adrienne = Altos/Joan = Tenors/Mark Yandall = Bases.

Next Committee Meeting:   4pm Friday 23rd May at Adrienne’s home (to finalise details for August concerts).

Meeting finished around 3:30pm.
