Present: Lynn, Maya, Mala, Philip, Nassai, Mark, Dee, Richard, Nic, Andy, Saskia, Kirsten
Excused: Sue
Agenda: Plan for panto. Forward planning for next couple of years.
Panto
Director: Linda Savage would be happy to direct either Robin Hood or Snow White, but needs to confirm whether she will get parts in either of two plays she has auditioned for. She will let us know about her decision by the end of next week. Andy and Philip willing to be back-up directors, but won’t be available the whole time.
Auditions: To be held 30th June and 1st July. Ads in Gulf News for the two weeks previously. (Artworks Theatre is available after 4pm on Sunday and on Monday evening.)
Rehearsals: 1st September till December. But people need to learn lines beforehand.
Decision on which piece to do: Philip, Mark and Andy will form a subcommittee. Both scripts need a lot of work. They will decide which one to work on (or get another!) and start doing so.
Musical accompaniment: Chris Orange on board? Dee to email him with request.
Scenery: Colin?
Costumes: from Playhouse
Choreography: Judy Oliver? Tristan? Andy to contact Tristan.
Side-by-side: Richards suggests doing Vivaldi’s Gloria for people who don’t want to do the panto (and for those who want to do both). Rehearsals to start next Tuesday.
Paul Harrop: Does he want to do something with us in February 2014? Dee will email him and find out.
2014: Carmen or Magic Flute
2015: 40th anniversary of Choral Society
Carmina Burana? We need to contact people now. Auckland Youth Orchestra? St, Matthews Choir?
Gareth Fahd, a composer mainly for percussion, will be asked if he would compose a special piece for the anniversary.
Grants will be needed for these major projects. Kirsten and Dee will write application letters. Richard will provide contacts.
Next meeting: Tuesday 4th June at 18:30 at Whittaker’s.
