WAIHEKE CHORAL SOCIETY INC
Minutes of emergency meeting held Monday 12 January 2009 at 16 Hobson Terrace
The meeting commenced at 8.15pm
Present: Philip, Richard, Andy, Maya, Dee, Mark, Jeanne and Janet
Apologies: Marion, Ann and Judy.
The meeting was called to discuss the way forward following the news that we were denied the rights to perform ‘Oliver’ because there was another production planned in Auckland for later this year.
Philip said that with 3 weeks before we were due to commence rehearsals we needed a strategy and fall-back position.
It was generally considered that our show would barely impinge on the audience for the Auckland Theatre Company production and therefore it was agreed that Philip would contact the Auckland Theatre Company to enlist their support for our production. If this were obtained he would then contact the Australian agent to put our case.
If this failed we needed a fall-back show and a number of suggestions were put forward for consideration. These included:
Annie |
Annie Get Your Gun |
Let’s Make an Opera – The Little Sweep,Benjamin Britten |
Another Panto |
Into the Woods (spoof on fairy tales) |
Joseph and his Technicolour Dreamcoat |
Peter Pan |
Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory |
Wizard of Oz |
After some discussion it was agreed unanimously that the fall-back show would be ‘Peter Pan’. If this show went ahead Philip would contact the present cast to let them know the situation and if possible to offer them suitable roles in the new production if they still wished to take part.
Philip to contact members of the committee once he had to answers to his telephone calls. He noted there may be a need for a further committee meeting in the near future but no date was set.
The meeting closed at 9.15pm
