Minutes of a Committee Meeting Held in the Palm Beach Hall at

6.00 pm on Tuesday 28^th November 2006

Present: Jeanne Mellamphy (Chair), Janis McCartain, Richard Melville, Philip Symonds, Pat Atkin, Marie and Jack Watson, also Anne Sutton (Wardrobe Mistress) in attendance.

Apologies were received from Mark James and Andy Spence.

Minutes of previous Committee meeting (31 October 2006) were read and passed unanimously. Marie/Pat.

Correspondence: Inward: Emails from Mark James and Marion Robertson, with good wishes for the “Iolanthe” performances. Outward: to George and Judy Hudson (re complimentary tickets to “Iolanthe”). Inward received and outward approved on the motion of Jack, seconded by Richard.

Finance: “Jane” for makeup $100.00

Lighting $420.00

Artworks $250.00 plus 10% of tickets sold

Tea and coffee $ 50.00

Set (Bernard Rhodes) $500.00

Advertising $200.00

Flowers $300.00

All the above were in connection with “Iolanthe.” In addition there were:

Ferry ticket for Richard: $345.00

Food (Marie Watson) $ 40.00

These accounts were passed for payment en bloc. Pat/Janis.

Approximate total figures for the “Iolanthe” production were: Receipts $2,900.00 and Outgoings $4,300.00. These figures will be subject to confirmation. A budget for the actual cost of the production (including cost of the orchestra, which was paid for by Richard out of his own pocket) is to be prepared for the Committee.

General Business and “Iolanthe” debriefing: Jack to write to thank the Orchestra. Also, letters of appreciation to George Hudson (gift of “Ferryman” wine), and Brenda and Robert Vale. Robert, as Director of the show, is to be asked for his debrief, to be emailed. Richard advised that future productions would benefit from longer rehearsal time, and suggested that the Society might stage shows other than Gilbert and Sullivan for the foreseeable future. He made special mention of Anne Sutton’s work on the costumes, which were outstandingly good and achieved at very modest cost.

The A Capella Christmas Performance is now to be at 7.30 pm on Saturday 2^nd. December, in St. Peter’s Catholic Church, subject to it’s availability. Jack to phone Pat Canning immediately after the meeting to request this.

The Committee is to have a little “get together” before Christmas; 6.00 pm to 7.30 pm on Monday 11^th December, at Jack and Marie’s home.

First rehearsal in 2007 to be at 7.30 pm on Tuesday 13^th. February in the Palm Beach Hall.
