Minutes of a Committee Meeting of the Waiheke Choral Society Held on Tuesday

15th November 2005 in the Artworks Theatre, Oneroa


Meeting opened at 6.00 p.m.


Present: Jeanne Mellamphy (Chair), Richard Melville, Mark James, Janis McCartain, Pat Atkin, Philip Symonds, Jack Watson.

Minutes of previous Committee Meeting (1/11/05) were taken as read, and confirmed with one correction ($40.00 to the Presbyterian Church, not $10.00). Janis/Mark


Matters arising: Date for the performance of “Last Tango in Little Oneroa,” in the Omiha (Rocky Bay) Hall to be 25th November 2005, at 7.00 p.m. for 7.30 p.m. Admission will be by koha, and there will be a fee of $50.00 for use of the Hall, payable to the Omiha Welfare and Recreation Society. The performances in the Artworks Theatre to be on 2nd , 3rd and 4th December 2005, as detailed in minutes of the last Committee meeting.

That the Carols to be sung in conjunction with “Sister Shout” will be at 5.00 p.m. on Sunday 18th December in the Palm Beach Hall (Hall booked by Janis), with tea and coffee to be served afterwards, and admission by koha, was moved by Pat, seconded by Mark and carried unanimously.


Correspondence The Play Bureau had sent an account for $225.00 for the performances of LTILO. This had already been paid, but was received on the motion of Jack, seconded by Jeanne.


Finance: Mark had not prepared a formal statement, but there had been no transactions and the balance in hand is $2,559.24.


General Business (show): The banner advertising LTILO has been completed, and is up on display. Lighting for the show Denny Reed is now able to do it, and he is coming after the meeting. Welcome help for this has also been offered by Sheryl the Fairy Costume lady, and Aaron Putt. Run-through and costume call to be on Tuesday 22nd, and costumes have been finalised. Microphones will not be needed. Tables and chairs for the Artworks performances—the light timber ones in the theatre foyer will be used, and a hat stand is to be procured. Mark will arrange for Rocky Bay Props, having regard to the smaller stage there Tickets for the show have been re-dated. Help will be required for painting of the backdrop et cetera on Thursday evening. Following the death of Alan Boghurst, the production of Last Tango in Little Oneroa is to be dedicated to Eileen in his memory. There will be a note of this in the programme, and also a synopsis of the show. Rehearsals of LTILO are to be held after the meeting, on Friday 18th Nov., on Sunday 20/11 from 11.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m., and on the Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of the show week. The person to look after Front of House is to be announced. Tea and coffee (payment by koha) will be served during the interval.

Other General Business: Arrangements for the Christmas break-up are all in hand. 30th Anniversary celebrations are to be discussed at a later date. Alan Boghurst’s Funeral is to be held at 11.00 a.m. on Monday 21st November in St. Peter’s Church, with The Revd. Peter Stead officiating. The Choir will lead the singing in three hymns of Eileen’s choosing (run through them on Friday). Lunch will be held at the Ostend Memorial Hall after the service—will all Choir members please bring a plate.

Christmas Break-up for the Committee members and their spouses will be a barbecue at Richard and Mary’s home (45 Bay Road, Palm Beach) after the carols on 18th December. Everyone to bring something to eat and drink.


Next Committee meeting is to be on 31st January 2006.
